Perforated drum oven

The Sicam perforated drum oven can tell a story more than fifty years long:
since when they were used in the sixties in the textile uses or in the eighties at the introduction of the nonwovens, till the most modern process innovation of these years.
Experience in the field, professionalism and flexibility have led Sicam to support cooperation with international companies, leaders for the supply of complete plants for the nonwovens. It has therefore established a win-win logic based on providing the customer and well tested good product and also it is also based on a continuous improvement through learning generated by the synergies between the involved companies and Sicam.

The working principle of the drum oven is based on a perforated drum in negative pressure , which works like conveyor and allows the passage of hot air through the product thanking to the already mentioned inside negative pressure .
the advent of the nonwoven has opened to this kind of oven a lot of new opportunities highlighting the salient features of these machines:

  1. perfect air through ventilation
  2. extremely compact dimension in relation to the material content
  3. absence of conveyors to heat up cyclically. The drum itself is the conveyor and always remains inside the oven without energy dispersion
  4. high production speed

Sicam has succeeded to optimize considerably the traditional perforated drum oven, that is an extremely compact machine with very difficult access. Critical points like accessibility and inspection have become merits in the Sicam oven decreasing a lot the time for cleaning and maintenance.
In fact the winning idea of Sicam was to divide the oven in three dipendent machines:

  1. the blowing hood complete of perforated panels
  2. the drum complete of shaft bearings motor and sliding support for connection to the hood
  3. the ventilator completely assembled on its frame complete motor and eventual transmission.

The ventilator is extractable from the hood thanking to the proper rails

Also the drum is extractable from the hood from the side. In this way any operation on the drum and on all the components of the oven become easy and safe.
The Sicam project adds also a negative pressure chamber between the drum and the ventilator in order to allow a 360 degrees maintenance on the machine: in fact, with the access at this chamber, it is possible a safe inspection of the ventilator and above all an inspection to the inside part of the drum with all its mechanical components.

In order to obtain a perfect thermic air treatment on the material Sicam succeeded to have a uniform ventilation at each different flow of process air; in fact know how and deep studies on the ventilation systems led Sicam to excellent results also for those nonwovens which need ventilation at very low flow:
not only reducing the ventilator speed but with a special system of overlying perforated plates which allow the control of the air flow all over the working width.

According to the different products or of the different necessary treatment the drum can be made in perforated sheet or by metal profiles, coated with one or two metallic meshes. In addition we find the construction Sicam philosophy without sliding elements. this solution make possible an easy access and to inspect inside the oven reducing the maintenance time and costs.
The construction philosophy by modular section of 2250mm of length, used by Sicam since many years in its production range, makes easy the transport operation all over the world allowing a simple load in containers if preassembled machinery section
The Sicam perforated drum ovens are different for technical and processed feature according to the plants in which they are involved.
